We have kits with components that have a quantity that can vary depending on
the customer needs. When we enter an order and we select the components and
change the quantity on the Kit selection form to something greater that the
original quantity in the BOM, the system automatically backorders the line
for the quantity above the original quantity. However, the item has enough
quantity available to supply the order.

We are working with B7331, SP 11. I tried this on the Xe Demo Jr and it
seems that it is working the same way.

Does anybody knows how to avoid having the kit components on backorder when
there is a change on the quantity and still having the availability checking
on?

Jorge,

When using kits, you should only change the quantities to the kit parent
line, not the components. Have you considered creating the kit with a 1 to 1
relationship with the kit parent and the component you have to change?

Working with kits is not as flexible as working with stand alone item
records. To avoid having backorder, you would need to do a modification to
the program.
