E8.12 jdeomw - There has been an error in attempting to add a record to local specs for JDESPECTYPE_GBRLINK ( or JDESPECTYPE_RDASPEC)

I'm using Solution Explorer on Windows XP on VMWare 16.2.4
Recently, when I check out I get the below errors. It is not "checking-out" the object.

I have checked the disk space and it seems its having enough space.

Back in my day when we ran into crazy errors like this, the best solution was to do a uninstall/reinstall of fat client. I assume it might be something to try (unless someone smarter than me pipes up )

Oh... Noted. But it always takes two days to reinstall as we were getting many issues and we have many environments. Let try. Thanks.

It is a big pain, but lots of times it fixes these random issues without wasting days/weeks on trying to find a needle in a haystack
