JDE World Migration from V4R4 to V5R4

Hi there !!

We are on JDE world A7.3 Cum 11 with OS level as V4R4.
Now we plan to upgrade to V5R4.
Are there any known Issues with Such an Upgrade .

Do we need to upgrade World Cum level as well OR can we still manage with existing Cum level.

Further are there any SPECIFIC PTF's required for such an upgrade .

I appreciate Suggestion and openion from JDE EXPERTS on this Forum .

Hi,
I belive the entire OS has to be changed and JD
Edwards PTF has to be incorparated.

Since the OS is getting changed you need to migrate
the entire application inwhich case there are lot of
works .

I do believe you will run into some JDE "patches" that have to be applied not so much because of V5R4 but because of some things that occurred back around V5R2 (or something). I would certainly engage the Global Support Center on this discussion so you can download the appropriate things to apply. As I recall, it wasn't "that" hard to apply theses patches after you go to V5Rx. I wouldn't be too terribly worried but ask Support first!

I think that's about right. It's certainly not a question of what I
imagine "migrating
the entire application" to mean. Stuff written in RPG has a terrible
habit of working just the same from release to release to release on
the iSeries.

Its not so much as to the application code not changing, O/S upgrades offer
performance enhancement, that provide options for existing and new code
throughput /logic. JDE (PeopleSoft) PTF's updates are created to allow
their code to perform as expected with the new O/S. JDE Cume levels are
O/S level specific, This is not
