JDE Standalone

Howdy all,

Seeing that I might try my go as an independent - who/where should I make
contact to, to obtain the JDE Standalone? I did search the forums - and
found no specifics as to where one might obtain a JDE Standalone.

Conceptually, there would be other independents out there that don't have
full-blown installations to work with, practice with and/or build
enhancements within...

Can one of you independents point me to a source, resource or contact where
I can beg/plea and obtain the most current standalone?

Help is always appreciated, and knowing is half the battle!

ps - eric, I'm not ready to advertise yet - please don't consider this an
advertisement <grin>

Hi Daniel

Sorry to hear you're no longer at your last company. Hope things work out for you.

For the longest time, us independents have gotten the sharp end of a very pointy stick from JDE - no matter whether we originate from JDE or from customers or partners, JDE has always viewed indepedents as a threat to their badly managed income in the past, and have kept the Standalone version of OneWorld together with any training materials strictly out of the reach of the people who would actually use them willingly.

Of course, Peoplesoft, SAP and Oracle do the complete opposite - they willingly provide (for a very small fee) copies of most of their software wherever possible - and have traditionally invited independents to training classes, workshops etc etc - it seems to me that this openness has won these companies far larger marketshare than JDE - at one customer recently I heard that as prospects they weren't allowed to go onto training courses !

So under the new Peoplesoft banner - I would expect much to change over the next year, with courses becoming much more available to independents, as well as software and demonstration code becoming available.

In the short term though, don't try and annoy the incumbents in the asylum.

Jon,

Thanks for your support - I am looking for a speedy recovery, and don't
intend to loose any skills while I am moving forward. I've heard that
Peoplesoft is more Independent-Friendly... praying for the best.

I have a couple months work, independently - doing web stuff and a JDE
shorty.

I'll keep looking for gigs out west, until something permanent comes along.

Daniel
