JDE One World Subscription billing

Hello list!
Many thanks to those of you who responded to my request for references for
JDE One World.
A requirement we have with any software we may implement, is the ability to
perform subscription billings and proper revenue recognition. We have not
received a definitive answer from JDE about whether OW has this ability.

If any of you is currently using JDE OW to perform subscription billing of
any kind, would you be kind enough to contact me?

Thanks in advance.

Deanna,

Briefly, what are the requirements of Subscription Billing?

My client is using OneWorld Xe Service Billing, and we have accounts for Subscription Revenue, but I'm not sure we're hitting them directly from Service Billing.

I can tell you that one way we've hamstrung ourselves here is that we put always put the Department Business Unit in the BU field of the cost account, which doesn't allow us to use Contract Billing. I think Contract Billing is a lot more flexible in terms of different types of billing methodologies.

Any thoughts out there on this topic?

Ian

Subscription billing in our world is this:

Recurring invoicing (monthly, quarterly, annually) for a subscription,
renewable until the contract with customer is terminated (don't want this
process to stop until told to!) The process must also recognize the revenue
when the product ships, which may be different from when the invoice is
created.

That's it very simplified, there is actually a lot of calculations going on
based on product price, delivery frequency and billing frequency. We have a
home-grown system currently, and it does not have an order-entry or
otherwise manufacturing front end.

We met with JDE consultants many years ago about this need, and promptly
confused all of 'em! Must have been our presentation. Anyway, I'm sure that
the World product didn't have what we needed, so I'm hoping that there is a
possibility with OW.

Thanks! I appreciate any and all suggestions.

World and OneWorld have the following features which may be of interest to
you:

1. Recurring billing can be handled weekly, monthly, annually. Quarterly is
a small mod.

2. Its possible that the contract termination can be handled with a cancel
date in the recurring order. Need to test if the batch order creation
program reads that date, if not then another small mod to read that date
when creating recurring invoices would be necessary.

3. Cycle billing can be run every night to calculate the invoice date,
driven off a preference set at the customer or item/customer level.
This does deferred General Ledger entries for revenue, cost and unbilled
receivables. These deferred entries are backed out when the order is
invoiced (on the invoice date) and sales update is run. This process is
relatively new, but has been around for about 5 years.

If I can be of further help, give me a call or shoot me an email.
