Here's my issue. I have an end item with a long lead time (i.e., six months or greater), but the item can be expedited for an additional fee to the customer to as little as one day if the parts needed to produce it are on hand. The product though requires a change to the BOM and/or Routing. If I release a work order with tomorrows date for completion, the system backschedules the order and picks up the original bill of material and routing, resulting in it not picking up the desired engineering variance. The system of course will not let you order something with a past start date, so how can I work around this? Any help appreciated. Thanks!
