Inventory Average Cost Recalc Problem

I've had reports of the Average Cost on a part getting way out of whack and I can't seem to replicate it but as you can see from the info below (I'll explain) from the Cardex, "something happened". Here is what the user explained to me.

1. The avg cost was 1.44 for a real long time (see various bottom transactions up until 5/31/06)
2. They incorrectly received a PO on 6/09 at a unit cost of 211.00, then they reversed the receipt on 6/13. They then properly rec'd the PO at a Unit Cost of 2.11.
3. I have no way of knowing what the Avg Cost looked like at that point but you would expect it to be somewhere between 1.44 and 2.11, yes? (about a 1.82 if I figure things correctly)
4. They then did a Sales Order on 6/21 and as you can see, it seems to think the Avg Cost was 91.63! I have no idea where this came from.
5. They then rec'd some more parts (again at 2.11) and it obviously recalced again but things were already wrong by this point.
6. They then did a cost adjustment on 1/22/07 to get Avg Cost back in line.

Anyone have something like this happen before? I setup essentially the same scenario and tested and although the reversal of an incorrectly rec'd PO DOES not get it "exactly" back to what the avg cost was before the mistake, it is pretty close. If the user did something, I sure can't find it... Thoughts? I scoured the KG and the JDEList archives and didn't find anything...

Any chance on-hand qty went negative at any point in the process? Average cost is known to go haywire when that occurs.

Nope, QOH never went negative, I'm sure, but thanks for reminding me of that issue
