This usually will occur when you have anti-virus software running on your client. Disable this during your install and it should speed up for you.

I have found that the “Searching” process can vary greatly from machine to machine even if the machines seem to be identical in configuration. (anti-virus on or off)

I found one way to avoid the “Searching” process was to “Push” the new package to the client rather than installing it using the install manager.

I've experienced the same issue and have found that if I have an
antivirus client on that workstation that is configured for realtime
protection, meaning that it scans all files accessed at the time, it is
very very slow. I just disable the realtime protection, perform the
client package and then re-enable realtime protection. I'm using Norton
Antivirus Corporate edition 7.5.

I had this problem too. The one thing that seemed to help was cleaning up the excess packages (JD*) and associated package inf's in the PACKAGE_INF directory on the deployment server. I think the problem is that more are created now as the result of all of those wonderful ESUs.

If this is happening on Win95 workstations, that has been my experience too.
Win2000 and WinNT seem to perform better.

One thing to make sure of is that if you do have 100Mb Ethernet to the
desktop, make sure you have the NICs in the workstations set to 100 Full
Duplex. DO NOT set them to autosense.

Try this one,

First delete the affected pathcode and then install the new package. My
understanding for this "waiting time" is that OW is searching for
previous installations.
