Hi all,

We're a fairly new client in Tasmania, Australia. We are using Xe, NT 4.0, SQL 7.0, Websphere 3.5, SP15 with update 2 applied.

We still in the implementation process, which we are doing in house after hiring an experienced consultant as a staff member to run the project.

We are very interested in hearing from anyone who has installed SP16.1 , which we need to install before we go live with web clients. We are implementing Workflow, and believe we are the first in Australia to do so, along with implementing Australian Payroll. We are one of only a few using web clients as part of their system in Australia (also use thick/fat clients).

We are also one of a small group in Australia to implement Solutions Explorer.

This looks like a great resource!! Cant wait to chat with you guys.

My role is that of systems administrator and DBA of the JDE system.

Regards,
Jase.

implementing JAS/html SP16.1

We have implemented JAS for html clients with SP16.1
We did this together with the WWAT team from the UK.
We found that SP16.1 was required in our case because our enterprise server is AS400, and we were getting garbage in our business functions. We are very stable at the moment (B7332, Websphere 3.5, HTTP server on HP-UX). Our JSO's are on the deployment server which works fine, we have so far failed to get serialised objects generation work on the AS400 (which would be a better solution to us than SQL server). Media objects are on the deployment server as well, that is another restriction. We always use 'direct generation' to deploy our applications (read somewhere here that people find generate very slow) I must say sometimes you have to generate more than once to get it right (html error in page). Oh yes, another funny thing is that we have to restart websphere to see our application or menu changes a lot, this caching thing is sometimes too good.
So overall, we are quite happy with the html solution.

Re: implementing JAS/html SP16.1

Howdy,

Im also having to stop and start websphere all the time for menu and security changes.... surely there must be a setting for jas.ini or somewhere we can fix it with.
