Fixed Assets and UDD

Has anyone run into an issue using UDD in Fixed Assets where the calculation for 'AA' ledger depreciation allows an asset to be depreciated below its salvage value?

We have set up a UDD rule that mirrors the JDE calculation for straight line with a mid-year convention and compute direction of 'R', except we are spreading 1st year depreciation from the Actual Depreciation Start Date. When I run depreciation using this method for an asset with a salvage value, it calculates depreciation expense for the period, even though the end result is that the NBV is less than the asset salvage value.

I found a SAR from 2001 regarding this issue, but it doesn't look like it has ever been addressed by JDE.

Any thoughts or ideas? (We're trying to go live with FA this week!)

Thanks,
