File Key

I now can explain my problem better.

I am developing a new program that will update files that I have created.

During the developement procedure it was decided that I needed an additional field in the key of the new file.

I added a new key to the file. Recompiled the file and made sure that the only view over the file contained the new keys. I also have deleted glbtbl and glbltbl from my developement pc and allowed the files to be refreshed.

I then went into my program and placed the view on the form and made sure that all of my links, field etc were correct. I validated all of the event rules with no errors.

Now I come out and try to run the program in OMW and it gives me a message that the column does not exist.

I suspect that somewhere there is a old file - new file confilct.

I do not have the option of going back to the original version as this is new developement.

Any suggestions or help would be appreciated. They don't teach you this in school.

Thanks
Roger

Just a thought roger,
did you do a server pack for the new table and bsvw ? also, did you delete ddict* and ddtext* and let that rebuild ?
good luck,

Yes I did delete the ddict* and ddtext* but no success. The other questions I do not understand. Our data is on a AS400.

I don't know how to recompile a business view but I did make a new one and try it and still no luck.

Roger

I thought that you might need to create a server package to let your as400 know of your table and bsvw changes.

I checked on the AS400 and it has the new fields like I want.

Thanks
Roger

Roger,
I do not know how things of XE go on AS400, we are on NT but:

1.) Have you tried to use your BSVW with a brand new APPL?
2.) Get/Check-Out the BSVW instead of spec delete when you created it on an other machine.
3.) Validate ER sometimes not enough. Try to double click all rows in your ERs and verify the statements in the popped-up windows.

Good luck,
Zoltán

Hi Roger,

I had similar problems with the AS400. We had to delete the SQL packages on
the AS400.
You have to do that each time you make changes to a table design

This is something I have not done. Can you tell me how to do this on the AS/400?

Thanks
Roger

Our Adm person says we do this each weekend. So I will see if my program works on monday morning.

Thanks for the suggestion. It appears that this may be our problem.

Roger

Keep us posted

I have had a similar problem. Try to delete the SQL PKG in your data library.

Hi Roger,

If you refer to the deletion of SQL packages, I have attached a document to
this message.
I think the forum supports attachments... if you can't see it, give me an
email address where I can send it
Else, the document comes from JDE's response line, if I am not wrongm so you
can try to get it from them.

Hi Philippe,
Your attachment is missing: the Forum suports it, indeed, the List does NOT.

Hi List,

here's the attachment about the SQL Packages on AS400 (and how to delete it...)

That's fixed Adrian (I was just hoping that sending to the message to the
Forum would allow me to send the attachment...)

Cheers

Hi List,
I have created a file and did an interactive application. After that changed the file by deleting a field and adding new one.
Now the program does not update or add and it says "Column does not exist".

What is the resolution to this problem?

Thanks
Sriram.

A bit ago, this was covered extensively.

Try checking the table in/out as table specs don't
get updated ON THE SERVER until you do. What's
misleading is that UTB shows the columns, as
UTB uses local specs.

Gene

I tried all sort of things. Do you mean Check in and out of the table specs? If yes, I did that no success. I see some replies in this thread saying the SQLPKG needs to be deleted. How to do this?

The following tricks I tried and does not succeed.
1) Deleting the global tables
2) Deleting the ddtext*, dddict*
3) Deleting the table in the BSVW and adding it again

Thanks
Sriram.
