ESU Installation

Hello list,

Has anyone experienced problems with the Backup function of the ESU
Installation program? I have had problems off and on with it never
completing. I have been trying to install ESU JD14668 yesterday & today,
but it hangs during the backup. Yesterday, I left it running all night &
had to cancel it this morning. Today, the backup has been running for 6
hours & still sitting at the 'Backing up APPL asvrtl binary data'.

Thanks in advance,

Suggest you search this forum using keywords ESU and BACKUP. You'll see lots of good discussion that is pertinent to your question.

I ran some small ESU's today. The backup was done in 10 seconds. I run it from a Xeon 1,5 Ghz with a 1Gbit connection to the enterprise server. OneWorld Xe SP 17.1

My experience with BackUp/Restore Fuction, it's not pretty. ( As JDE Admitted). Backup works fine taking some extra disk space in Dep. Svr. Restore is not a clean job. if new objects are introcuded in the ESU the restore process does not know how to delete them from the CO and it is messing up the BSFN. God knows what is happening to the SPECS. Best practice is to backup the Path code in Dep. svr. and apply the ESU. If new objects BSFN are introduced delete them from CO to have clean Package Build.

Maybe you can first check
- harddisk space - are there space on your harddisk for the backup
- check permission - are you having write permisssion on the b7333 directory.
