Enforcing Multiples in Sales Order Entry

I have a client that wants to enforce an order multiple. For example, the
item comes 24 ea per case and they want to receive an error if the user
tries to enter an order for any quantity NOT a multiple of 24. I know how
to enforce a MINIMUM quantity (at least 24) using a mandatory adjustment
starting with a "from quantity" of 24, but this doesn't work for the
multiples requirement.

A free dinner on me at Focus 2001 if you can suggest how to do this without
a mod. (Sorry yellow stickys pasted up with multiples of 24 next to the
display don't count--they've already used them up for other stuff!)

Andy:

This sounds like a classic configurator problem. If the part number is
configured to "build" a case item with 24 eaches, you could define your own
error message when the each quantity does not match a multiple of 24 using
if-then-else logic. Am I on the right track?

Joe Mulrooney

I don't know, Joe. I don't know configurator, but it sounds good! I'll
pass it along to the client.
That's two dinners I owe now. See you at Focus 2001?

Although this is easy to do in the configurator, the configurator itself
introduces an additional layer of complexity that many clients aren't going to
want to manage and it adds processing time to sales order entry. So even though
the configurator can handle this, if the purchasing UOM does the job I'd go with
that (unless there are other reasons to set the item up in the configurator).
