EDI Translator

We are looking at implementing EDI for Outbound Purchase Orders. What
translator software are people using for this?

Thanks,

Various translator are available. Sterling is what I have often seen
implemented. I am sure there are others. An interesting trend is that the
translator work (mapping and partner transmissions) are being outsuourced
directly to the service provider (i.e. a Sterling type). The JDE flat files
are FTP between your org and sterling. Seems to work very well, but I am
sure there is a cost related.

We are using the Peregrine EV5 (formerly Harbinger, formerly Premenos)
AS/400 package - straight from the F47 files rather than the Flat files
created on the Citrix server.

This is an EDI Gateway product and probably overkill if all you want to do
is a single transaction type and not significant data volumes. (It's also
priced on the AS400 Model for some reason - perculiar for a sub system)

I have worked with Gentran in the past. It works
pretty well, I have also used prenemos (sp?) in the
past, but I believe the name has changed. It should
really depend on that your volume is going to be, and
how many trading partners you intend to have (and even
who). If you are just going to do a few other small
companies you might not have a need to throw down 20K
for a full translator. If you do need one, either of
the two I mentioned in the beginning work fine.

We used Harbinger Trusted Link Enterprise v4.12 (at the time, newer
versions out now). We transferred the information through flat files. With
the newer version of the software, they are supposed to have created a more
integrated solution with OneWorld since they became a business partner of
JDE's..
