EDI Inbound Order Processing

EDI newbie here - we are doing some outbound processing from XE to Gentran 5.2. What's necessary to automate the inbound processing of 850 messages? From a quick search it looks like connect Gentran to JDE DB using ODBC, populate F47011 and F47012 from Gentran, using mappings, then run R47011 to create orders. Is that it?
