We are experiencing trouble with the 850 in from
gentran to edwards. We are recieving message "not
able to open file" though all parameters seem set
correctly and file from customer looks good. We are
also recieveing error "date is in a future month" when
the file is rerun.

Any Help?

I have had issues similar to this. Make sure that the file that gentran
produces is either located on the server the runs the job, or you refer to
the UNC path of the file if it is on a different server. I had all types of
problems when I was refering to the file via a mapped drive. (I assumed that
you are using Gentran for NT, and use NT servers. I did not see your
hardware described below). If you are using gentran 3.1 for NT, have you
looked at direct ODBC mapping, that would cut out that step, and simplify
things a bit (although you lose some tracking abilities)

As for the "date is in future month", I know that EDI will not like an order
that has a ship/request date in the past, I have not seen a future error. I
am not a finance person, but I remember somewhere that you could specify if
certain types of situations were errors, warning or neither. Those
situations include PACO, Posting After Cutoff, and PBCO, Posting Before
Cutoff. Is it possible those setting are hosing you up? How far in the
future are these orders that you are bringing in? ********Remember My

Hope this helps.

Ricardo,

From the financial side, "date is in a future month" will not create an error. Only a warning message. This is caused when the order date is more than two months ahead of the GL date.
