E900 Web Gen

We are currently working on testing E900 upgrading from E810. In E900
there is a new item that I am confused on and would like verification.
For instance, if I have an update package that I do a manual web gen on
do I need to perform a "generate manifest" to complete the process.
This is new to E900. I know there is on-demand web gen in E900, but
need to know the process if I run the web gen manually. I have been
provided a couple of documents but still am not clear on.

Thanks to anyone that can provide verification.

In 8.12 and 9.00, once you deploy the update package to the server the server manifest will get updated automatically, so there is no need to generate the manifest again. If you really want to manually generate the objects manually afterwards you just need to install the update package on a fat client and run the eGenerator and generate those specific objects, although I don't know why you would want to do this for an update package. I could see doing this for a full package.
