Diff Tools

Somebody out there has to have the ideal tool!

Were migrating some harshly mod'd objects to an XE environment.... And I get
a little scared, ok.

I print to text the EVs. Then use the good old Microsoft WinDiff command...
and now I have this pretty red white and yellow flag staring me in the
face...

There has gotta be a better DIFF tool out there for comparing code - please,
before I move to Mexico (where the flag is supposed to be red, white and
yellow?), someone tell me who makes a developer quality DIFF tool...

And don't anyone say MS Word!

Tia!

Daniel,
There is an embedded tool in OMW under XE, namely "Visual ER Compare".
You can call it from the Design panel in OMW. It is not only for Compare but for ER movement too.
For more information about the tool, please, see the documentations and the Knowledge Garden

Daniel,

have you looked at using XE's own Visual ER Source comparison tool?

Chris

Zoltan,

We are moving from a pre-XE to XE and our team does not want to do any
conversion of the 'legacy' system to XE. They 'simply' want me drop all the
mods into the XE environment(s).

I have looked at and used the XE Diff tool (they are kind of nice) - but it
doesn't work in this situation.

Anyone know the color of Mexico's flag - I feel like I was just run out of
the Alamo.

Daniel

Re: RE: Diff Tools

Daniel,

It isn't clear for me what do you mean "from pre-XE". Is it a legacy system or an erlier version of OneWorld?

Do you know that JDE rolled back ESU Enhacments, including Visual ER Compare too, from XE to B7332. If you are interested in it then go to the Knowledge Garden for more information abaout it.

By the way (and if it is true and works really then) OMW in XE can handle objects under multiple OW releases. I haven't tried it yet but I am very interested in it.

Zoltán
