Do you know if there is any whitepaper out there how to rebuild a deployment server if it crash.
I got all the package and the access DB backup on tape the only thing I do not have is the registry of the OS.

I don't know of any whitepaper about that.
But, you may easily recover your Deployment if you have all of
the following items :

a) Backup of \b73xx share
b) CD1 of Deployment Setup
c) Central Objects backup (in case they're stored in the Deployment)
d) Visual C++ CDROM
e) Database Client software
f) NT/W2K CDROMs
g) All the MicroSoft Service Packs stuff
h) c:\winnt\jde.ini file backup

And you :

a) Keep the machine name
b) Keep the disk partition letters and schema
c) Install C++ and JDE on the same directories than before the crash
