DD additions in Xe

I need advise for adding new custom DD item into JDE. Pros? Cons?

Hi James,

I am on B733.2 and I never had any problem with custom DD Items (more than 50). Begin alias with “55” to avoid possibility that JDE add new DD Item with same alias as yours.

Hi James,

I have done it several times under B7321, B7331, B7332 and XE (always on NT platform) without any problem or collision.
Take care about naming convention. Seek for this issue in your "Development Standards: Application Design" documentation on your JDE doc CD or download it from the KG. (Unfortunatelly it was changed a bit from realse to relase).
This naming convention issue was already discussed in the near future (not more than 3 days ago?) on the List/Forum, maybe not here but on the Developers version. Please, search for it on the Forum.

On the other hand, if you are on AS400 then you can have special considerations, mainly on the length of the Aliases (if I am right, max. 4 char because 2 char will be added as column prefix and 6 char is the max. on the right side of an RPG statement, but I amn't sure).
