Crystal Reporting against JDE files

Hi there,

I'm wondering if anyone out there is using Crystal Reports to access JDE
ledger files (e.g. F0902. F0911)?

Can the JDE files be accessed directly by Crystal Reports and how?

Does JDE security control access to data being retrieved by an external
reporting tool, or does Crystal Reports have its own security to handle
this?

Any information is appreciated.

Cheers,

Graham,
We use Crystal Reports, but we first replicate our JDE files to SQL Server
tables. Crystal then hits those tables and not our JDE files directly.
We use DataMirror Transformation Server for the AS/400 and Microsoft SQL
Server. This product allows for continuous mirroring. Works fine for us,
and security is not an issue.

I've used Crystal Reports extensively against JDE World files. I set it up
so that Crystal is actually running against MS Access tables that have been
linked through Client Access ODBC to the AS400.

I was forced to code my own business unit security routines which forced me
to call some Client Access API's to retrieve the User Name. Otherwise,
security is pretty much wide open.

It has been an inexpensive extremely useful tool.

Hi

I have used Crystal 7 Info on JDE but only in a test environment. You can
link Crystal to JDE via an ODBC link.
But we have decided not to pursue the Crystal route.
