Completion Of Serial Control Work Orders?

Hi all,
We are mfg co. and we have lot and serial control items.In work order processing, In the case of serial control items(components/subassemblies/assemblies), wherever serialization is required system should generate serial nos on its own and it should complete work order and should generate serially IC items(Now we are doing all this manually means we are generating and assigning serial no manually in completion full.)

In JDE, is there any provision for the above?

Hi,
Depending on the work order item lot control choice you can make JD to create serial numbers for the work order (date based or next numbered) You can create seiral numbers as soon as you have the work order, however if you want you can postpone this until WO completion, you just have to use (P3105) and tell JD to create serial numbers for the WO. And when you complete the WO you should choose a serial number from the list created for the WO (which can be easily accesed from completion screen). However it gets a little complicated when you have serial numbered parts used in serial numbered products

in that case, though you don't have to manually create serial numbers, you have to relate parts to products for tracking serial numbered parts used in products (which makes sense actually because the system has no cahnce of knowing it

, however there can be developments using barkod readers to help this proses)
