Co-existance Question

We have noticed that when our users run UBE's, they run quicker by running locally as apposed to running on our AS/400. We have a large AS/400 with plenty of resources available. This is noticeable on some of the longer running UBE's. Has anyone else with co-existance seen the same? For example, one of our custom reports runs over an hour on the AS/400 and 20-30 minutes locally.

We have noticed that UBEs dog on the AS400 as opposed to local and also shoot the CPU usage up. We have a 730 with a GIG Ram.

Yes that is the case with the AS/400. There has been several posting about this issue.

I don't know if it's because it needs to be translate from ASCII to EBCDIC or if it's something with AS/400.

Some clients have bought a NT box to offload the UBE processing because it's faster on NT than AS/400.

Ryan,

interestingly enough this is true of many UBEs in our UNIX environment as well. Many will run faster on the local client.

Go figure.
