classification in JDE compared to SAP

I have used SAP for a long time and have gone to a company that now uses JDE. I was wondering how you classify parts in JDE like in SAP. Where you have a classification then attributes under that classification so it can be easier to reuse parts in BOM's for engineering. We reuse parts from other contracts but keeping track of old parts is impossible the way it is set up now. So people just create parts because they can't find what they are looking for. Need advice as to how or what is needed to fix this issue.

JDE does not have standard part classification. Your options include Oracle Agile which interfaces with JDE or a 3rd party item classification application.
