Changes when the company is purchased

It looks like our company is about to be purchased and I would like to
discuss with someone who has been through this while using JDE World. I am
curious about what system/application/data changes that they found were
necessary to make.

Nichelle. We've changed owners a few times in my 14+ years here. It all depends on whether the accounting system is being integrated or not with your new owners existing systems (if any). My fortunate experience is that we've always been run as a subsiduary so our 'accounting' methods, cost centres, object codes etc. have not needed to be changed. The only changes we've made were cosmestic ones in the company file to reflect change of company name etc. Good luck. Steven Lawrence, Coral Racing, UK. A7.3 cum 10.

Actually Nichelle just thought of one thing we did change ! We had a new accounting calendar imposed on us on one occasion. This meant reposting after changing the calendar file to ensure transactions were appearing in the correct period buckets. When doing this you also have to check for any forward dated transactions as well (we missed them first time round as there shouldn't have been any apart from reversing journals!) I think there was a white paper on the KG about this. Have a look under 'reposting'. Steve.

Nichelle,
Most of the changes are financial in nature. Typically, you end up with a revalued company where balance sheet values are changed. The easiest way to accomplish this is to setup a new company and start fresh. AR and AP typically continue as stated, but the majority of fixed assets change;ie, new costs and no accumulated balances. Asset lives also change. There occasionally is some debt forgiven and new financing incurred. Again, mainly financial. Operationally, there will be little change until management is more settled with the new entity.
