Category Codes - changing descriptions

Hello,

Does anyone know of an easy way to change the description of Category Codes
so that applications display the actual (new) description rather than
Category Code 1, 2, 3, etc?

For example: Address Book Category Code 1 to read 'Territory', Category
Code 2 to read 'Vertical Market' in stead of Category Code 1 & Category Code
2 when an user is in the Address Book application.

I have changed the row description in Data Dictionary for alias AC01 &
changed the Glossary Overrides, but this did not make any difference.

Thanks in advance,

You should use Vocabulary Overrides. These changes do not need a change on
the DD.

The only way I have found to change the description is to check out the
object, go into design and change them in the program itself. Its probably
not the best but have not found any other viable solution

Hi Kimberly.

1) Fast path to G01411
2) Double click on category code you wish to change
3) Highlight the first line / click on 'Select'
4) Make the description change
5) Click 'Ok'
6) Verify the description reads as you wish / return to step 3 if it
does not
7) Click 'Close'

Make it a great day!

This is a deployment issue. Since we build and deploy full DDDICT and global tables on WTS, changes like this are seen on the screen when the new package is deployed. It is a combination of what is in DDDICT and also the FDASPEC (depending on description or column heading). Therefore, the full new package will take care of it.

Hi all,

I found the solution to making CC descriptions without having to customize
the application:

To make a vocab override. You need to make sure the app is NOT checked out.
Then find the object in OL & select it. Choose the vocab override exit.
When you get to the screen where you make changes to the descriptions then
make the change. Save the changes. Check out the application to see the
changes. Deploy to users who require the changes via update package or
checkout on workstation.

Regards,
Kimberley
