Dear List,
I have a need to amortize a capital lease over a set period of time. I know the monthly payment, and the number of payments. What my accountants want to do is, on a monthly basis, post interest and principal (the amounts for which would vary monthly) to two separate accounts and offset a liability.
We are already using the Fixed Assets module to depreciate our assets over their depreciable lives, and our first thought was to somehow use the Fixed Assets module to perfom these functions. However, we are having trouble figuring out how to get the fixed asset module to post two entries of varying amounts to one liability offset.
Anyone else amortizing capital leases in a manner similar to what we are looking at? Maybe fixed assets is not the correct module to be looking at.
