Business View

We added a field to the middle of a file and now none of the business views over the file will work.

Any suggestions on what to do to correct the problem?

Thanks

Roger,

Never extend neither a Table nor a Business View in the middle of them when they are already in use, instead of just extend them only on the end of them.

If you can restore the original TBLE spec from an other Path Code then do it and extend it on the end of it.

What about your table in the Database? Have you generate it with the new spec? If you have had already data in it, how did you resolved to preserve that?

Thanks that is what i suspected.

I hope I can just remove the business view from the form that I have created and create a new business view to take its place.

Hi Roger,

We discussed that issue before. It has to do with the SQL Package on the
AS400. If they are active on the AS400, you need to delete then in order
to access your Table.

I posted a document on the forum about that a few months ago, search the
archive for user Pcaenaro

Hi Roger,

I am not sure that you can remove the BSVW from the Form with success, mainly if you have ER which reference as well BC as GC or GB values.
Maybe I won't be answer you more times before my holiday, but your answer to the following questions could be usefull for the others to help you.

1.) Is your table a custom one?
2.) Have you already valuable records in it what you want to preserve?
3.) Is your BSVW a custom one?
4.) Is your Form/APPL a custom one?
5.) Have you use that table elswhere than that Form/Appl?
6.) Have you ER logic already in your Form/APPL?

Good luck,
Zoltán

Hi Roger:

I believe, you shall need to regenerate the business views using Business
View Design.

If you were to have added the new field at the end of the file then I guess,
you would not have encountered this problem.

I looked for your post but could not find it.

How do I identify the sql package that needs to be deleted?
