Business Function problems!!!!!!

JDE List,

We are having problems with OW B73.3.2 SP11.3 in that we are continuing to
get both "Business Function has caused a memory violation" and "Threaded
Business Function caused Heap Corruption". I have applied what I thought
were the appropriate ESUs and I have applied SP11.3 to assumedly fix these
problems.

Anyone out there have more "light" to shed on this issue? Any help would be
very greatly appreciated.

OW B73.3.2 SP11.3
NT 4.0 SP6a Enterprise Server
SQL 7 SP3 on ES with COs
NT 4.0 SP6a Deployment Server (of course)
"fat" Win95/Win98/WinNT

just a check ... you did build and deploy the SP to ALL the workstations and the enterprise server?

Another question. Are you running any Win9x workstations?

Yes, the SP was built and deployed to all workstations and server (I
believe, how do I check), and I do have Win95/Win98 workstations. I know
WinNT is better, is it that much better?

yes, NT really is that much better. We were a 60-40 mix of Win95 and NT and we finally bit the bullet and switched a 100 workstations to NT to get rid of this and other problems in OW associated with Win9x.

JDE "said" they supported Win95. Then they said they only supported non-OEM Win95 with no updates. Then they said to really eliminate these and other issues, you have to go to Win NT. We did this (grumbling all the way) and also upgraded to SP 11.3 to finally get rid of the same errors you are seeing. Net, net OneWorld does not run very well on Win9x.

Do you have any NT workstations? If yes are you seeing the same problems on them?

There is a file called ptf.log on the client in the b7\system\bin32 folder
which tells you the SP level.

We run a mix of 95 and NT machines. I originally came from a company that
moved from WINDOWS 3.11 to NT 4.0 and bypassing 95. This in my opinion was
100% correct even though the initial license cost was higher. Windows NT is
designed for networking it is more efficient and stable. 95 does not
compare. Since I have arrived here, 80% of the JDE problems are with 95
machines. Any new PC's or 95 PC's needing rebuilt are installed with NT.

At the start of our implementation the company was using Win95 but we couldn't get OW to work on it so our company switched to all WinNT machines. This worked out not only for the OW team but the Network team liked the new security features of NT over 95.
