Hello List,

OneWorld B7332 SP11.3 on AS/400 & Netfinity (CO on AS/400)

I have been asked to get information on upgrading from B7332 to Xe (we are
several months away from going live), What experience have people got with
doing this? How long did it take?

Hi Graham,

I've been fortunate enough to have performed several Upgrades already.

My experience has been very positive with the process. I would advise that
the most critical success factor on the AS/400 platform would be the
application of the recommended PTFs and cumulative updates to your enterprise
server.

The time requirement will vary depending on the complexity of your
architecture. However, since you are not yet live, you most likely have a
little more flexibility.

My experience is that with the proper up front preparation (i.e. path code
consolidation, check ins, object flagging, PTF/Cum level compliance, disk
space availability), upgrading the system can take as little a 3 days. Bear
in mind though, that this is just the upgrade itself. Post upgrade tasks
follow (e.g. Full client and server package build, Latest Service Pack
application, Package deployment, ESU/ASU installation, Security Retrofit, OMW
Training, etc) that will likely push the effort out to 5+ days.

Beyond the technical upgrade is the renewal of the pilot-testing efforts (1+
weeks).
And then when ready, the transfer into Production (which is in most cases
includes many of the upgrade procedures) as well as post-golive support and
adjustments (5 - 10 days).
