As/400 model upgrades

Is it common knowledge that if you upgrade your AS/400 model you need to download a SAR from JDE to sign into world?

You always had to check with JDE. Used to be you had to order a PTF and
wait for it to arrive. It is not always necessary to apply a fix to make
World work with a new release. It is always a good idea to make sure the
your release of JDE is known to work with the release of OS/400 that you
want to use. It is not automatic and it is not instantaneous, people have
to do real testing and maybe development to make sure that it will work.

I have only seen that you need a SAR if you are changing from OS/400 prior
to v4r2 to v4r2 or later. You may need to get a different SPC code if the
box serial number has changed. But other then that I don't believe there is
anything. At least I've never seen it and we have changed models several
times since we have been using JDE.
