APPLICATION OBJECT MODIFICATION

GOOD DAY!

I AM HAVING TO MODIFY APPLICATION P4210 SALES ORDER ENTRY. I AM ADDING 4
ELEMENTS INTO THE GRID. THIS I DON'T HAVE A PROBLEM WITH. MY PROBLEM IS I
HAVE 39 VERSIONS IN PRODUCTION WITH DIFFERENT PROCESSING OPTIONS. MY
QUESTION IS DO I HAVE TO DO ANYTHING WITH THESE VERSIONS AND THERE
PROCESSING OPTIONS FROM PRODUCTION BEFORE I PROMOTE MY PROJECT IN OMW AND DO
A PACKAGE BUILD, SO I DON'T LOOSE MY PROCESSING OPTIONS.

I NOTICED THAT WHEN I DID A PACKAGE BUILD TO PROMOTE MY APPLICATION TO MY
TEST AREA IT AUTOMATICALLY DID A BUILD ON THE VERSIONS EVEN THOUGH I DID NOT
HAVE THEM IN MY PROJECT ON OMW.

THANK YOU! IN ADVANCE FOR YOUR HELP!

Bob,

DON"T SHOUT! Its hard on the eyes :)

Your change to P4210 applies across the board. For Interactive applications, versions are only used for processing options and data selection, you cannot make version specific changes to an APPL object.

Another interesting thing about Interactive versions as opposed to UBE versions is that changes made to Interactive versions are immediately visible to everyone else using the same Path Code - so including them in a package is a courtesy kind of thing.

Hope this helps,

Hi Larry,

Hope, you are right again as usual.
You have written: "For Interactive applications, versions are only used for processing options and data selection"

I am very curiuos to this new and unknown (at least for me) feature, how can I set data selection for an Interactive Version and if I can then for wich form or forms of the application. This feature sounds very exiting for me, so would you be so kind as to describe for us how can we do that or point to a documentation which describe it?

Thanks in advance,
Zoltán

Zoltan,
You caught me <grin>
Of course there is no data selection on interactive applications - I must have been smoking something hallucinogenic that day :)
