Accessing Excel spreadsheet information

Has anybody had the opportunity to retrieve .xls data from OW? The client
is running XE on NT and would like the ability to attach a SO request in
Excel as an OLE in Media Objects and then automagically retrieve the
information in the Excel file to a custom OW APPL. I have looked in BSFNs
and at media object functionality and do not see anything promising.

I have looked into the OLE media object system functions but have yet to
figure out how they work (anyone know?), and can't find documentation in KG.

I would also be interested in how you might approach this problem. Two
current ideas are:
1) Cut from Excel and Paste into a Headerless/Detail form.
2) Export to delimited flat file and write TC UBE to input data to OW.

I'm sure that writing a C BSFN is also an option.

Hi Ben.
I don't know if this is the solution for you,
but you might wish to try a HOT LINK:


If the OneWorld grid is input capable, then you can also establish a
"Hot Link" between the grid and a third-party Spreadsheet or Word
processing application. A hot link allows you to update data in the
two connected applications simultaneously. This means that when you
update data in the OneWorld grid, the third-party spreadsheet data of
that grid is also updated, (and visa versa).


To set-up a Hot Link, simply click on the box for "Establish a
Hot-Link", when you are exporting or importing from an input capable
grid.
