Hi,

We are planning to purge/archive A/R,A/P and G/L files
having three years older records. If you purged or
archived these tables can you please tell me the
procedures how you did and what are the important
things we must look for it. We are in B7332 SP11.3
Winnt. SQL 7.0. Thanks for your great help.

Thank you
David Soloman

David,

As part of all purges, JDE purge programs create a new file based on the old file with an appendix of 'P' and a date (F0911PXXXX). You can save these purge files if you choose. The only file purge that has an additional step is F0911. There is a 'summarize' job that must be run. This creates one record per gl account, ledger and GL period that sums the monthly transactions. This record type (BF) should never be purged as it is used for GL reposts.

The GL manuals discuss this in depth (for JDE) and provide a check list. If their check list is followed, you should have no problem. I've used this many times with a problem both as a user and as consultant. More information is available through the Knowledge Garden by looking under publications.
