Hi Gordon,
In answer to your first question:
You can find these types of buttons on the grey bar in the middle of OMW
panel.
Do not try to find them in the Row, Form or other menu (...and on the Exit
Bar), you won't find them.
The only way to guess the functions of the buttons is to move your mouse
cursor over the button and keep there until baloon help pops up.
The button set which is visible on the mentioned place depends on where and
what kind of type item is selected.
Further Disabled/Enabled status depends on many things, e.g. the status of
obect (e.g.Checked In or not), status of the project, does the projects hold
the token for the object or do not, do you have listed in the owners of the
project or do not, if you are listed then what is your user role in the
project, etc.
I well know, it sounds a bit complicated at first time but I hope, could
help a bit at the start.

About your second issue, I am also very curious to the solution. It will be
GREAT if somebody will have one. Forum, GO! ... and if you answer this
second issue, then ask Eric in the same time to put it quickly onto the Tips
& Traps board at the top rank.

Good luck for starting with OMW,
&
Merry Christmas!

Forum,
Forgive me this mail. This is Gordon's original mail FYI.
I wasn't enough careful and answered a wrongly addressed mail again via
e-mail.
I beg your pardon again, this is the last evening here before Christmast.

XE Newbie (THE ORIGINAL POST)

Forum/List,
Excuse me again. Gordon's post was somehow cut from the end of my e-mail reply. I wanted to put it to the Forum anyway because his second issue is very exciting and I am curious to the possible solutions too and suppose many of us too.
I beg your good will again. I was very hurry to go home from the office after 9:30 PM before Christmas day. I really hope, you will understand me.
Eric, please, decrease my scores.

Subject: XE Newbie

Hi,

My new client is running XE on Sun Unix/Oracle. XE is
new to me. Would like to have your help on the
following RDA questions:

1. The Object Librarian screen seems to changed
completely. Where can we find the Check/Out, Erase
Check Out buttons?

2. Is there a way to change the JDE Default Page
Header? My client would like to add Version ID and
User ID on every report, but don't want to change
every single JDE report.

Many thanks for all the help your provided through out
the year.

Merry X'mas!
Gordon

Hi Zoltan,

Thanks for your quick response. Wow, OMW? It is new
to me. I will check into KG to get myself educated
before asking further questions. Thanks for the quick
preview anyways.

Is OMW a better object management tool then the B7332?
Just curious.

Happy Holidays!
Gordon

RE: XE Newbie

Hi Gordon,
Hello Zoldy,

You see, OMW has its OMConfigurator; I'd look into KG for both. As a matter of facts you may get the multimedia training for both, each having 3 sections. There are some useful docs/exercises, too.
OMW is replacing the old OL tool; it is supposed to control Object Development in a Change Management manner. My personal feeling is it introduces the standard Change Control features in a ... JDEdwards way; that means a VERY good idea and LOT of room for improvement. It is definitely better than OL. Enjoy.

Hi Gordon,
We are also just getting started with XE.
At first sight it seems for me that Object Management Workbench and its configuraton possibilities has several advantages against OL.
As Adrien has suggested, it is a good idea to download the appropriate multi-media files, by JDE terms: CBT = Computer Based Training.
Unfortunately, I haven't seen them yet, because a.) I haven't sound card in my PC b.) I hadn't enough time lately.
Please, let me know your oppinion, if you have watched them.

On the other hand, you can read about OMW in the "Development Tools" and about the configuration of object management in the "System Administration" JDE documentations. If you haven't got the XE Documentation CD then (I suppose) you can download them from the KG.

It's very important in OMW that you have to plan roundly your OM configurations making best fit to your need and to your Development/QA/Test/etc. workflow.

Happy New Year!
