Hi,

One customer has a problem with printing a PDF file to a dit matrix =
printer.

When we try to run a report from the client on the enterprise server.

If we select :
On Screen : the pdf is edited properly
On printer : the report is not printed

I'm almost sure it's a problem with JDE (converion program, printer =
configuration,...?)

Any suggestion?

JDE : B7331
Enterprise Server : NT

Vincent

Vincent,

There is an option - and I will have to look at how we accomplished it - to
send/report plain text ascii to the printer.

If someone doesn't beat me to it, I'll locate how we accomplished it and
update. You might want to start looking for a solution as such... it might
take me a day or two...

Re: RE: Printing on a DOT matrix printer

Vincent,

Regarding the issue you had - unable to print to a dot matrix printer...

A couple things must come to play:
* Your Queue must point to a dot matrix printer and be configured as a Dot Matrix Printer. If you can configure it on the queue as an ASCII printer - you are probably better off.
* Your printer must be configured correctly for the queue. If the printer is emulating one setting while the queue is sending something else - you will get either garbage or nothing. In real terms, I'd prefer to see nothing... the garbage can be a dozen or more sheets per one page, paragraph or .... You want to make sure they are insync
* You want to use only one font on your report. You want to use a Terminal style font (like courier).
* you want to use only one dpi on your report. 10dpi is a good default.
* You want to make sure that your printer and your report(s) share the same settings for Font and DPI. This is important!

If all of the above is all matched up - you should be seeing output. If you are not seeing output - let the list know. We'll find some other things to check. I am sure you aren't the only customer who has gotten to tackle this issue.
