Periods of Supply nightmare

OK...if anyone can point me in the right direction on this I would be
incredibly thankful. According to JDE, the P3482 or P3482 MRP programs will
NOT tell you to decrease on order when you are using "Periods of Supply"
processing because you "normally run for more than is needed". Unfortunately,
that is just not true. And even if it WAS true, they would not give you a
decrease order if your demand changed from 1,000,000 down to 10. I can't
imagine anyone is ok with that. There was a SAR listed saying that Decrease
msgs should not be created for Periods of Supply processing. Can anyone tell
me someone I can talk to to trry and rectify this? Or any comments? Thanks!
We are on A7.3 cum 11.

I might have some bad news for you. About a year ago I was implementing Mfg
and ran into the same problem/brick wall. Apparently JDE could never get
this functionality to work quite right. Their solution? Hard code it to
skip decrease messages when the order policy code = 4 (Periods of supply).
The client decided that this wasn't critical and had me move on.

Unless there is a SAR out there purposely fixing this, your only recourse is
to try and fix JDE's mess yourself.

Richard,

Thanks...I am TRYING to push this issue. I agree 100% with your analysis.
They couldn't get it to work right so now they say it isn't SUPPOSED to work.
That's just great. And not only does the decrease msg not work, the increase
doest work either. So once you firm an order up, that's it. It will never
recommend a change. It's amazing that they just keep referring to that 1996
SAR from one customer who said this was OK. I just don't understand how a
company can put out software that doesn't work and then refuse to fix
it...and for this we pay "maintenance"? Thanks for the support.

We have also had problems with Periods of Supply. Our solution was to just not use it. After a lot of testing with it we set everything to "Lot-for-Lot or As Required". We do not do Lot processing but the Planners look at Customer demand for 15 days then after that its the greater of Customer Demand or Forecast. Seems to be working.

Would would rather that the Periods of supply worked but as you all know JDE is not going to do anything about it.

If you need names added to a "SAR" feel Free to add mine. Heck on this issue I would even call JDE myself and add my name to a SAR to get it fixed.
