I just installed the deployment server as per instructions - but I'm not able to connect to E1Local as "JDE/JDE" - has anyone got any work around to connect ?

I tried doing a "sqlplus /nolog" followed by "conn / as sysdba" but get "insufficient privileges"

Jon,

Have you had a look at doc - 798943.1 which gives instructions on how to reset the "sys" password for E1Local..

I worked it out. The 9.1 instructions tell you to install a 32bit oracle client - which i did, but then the OEE installs a 64bit client on top- therefore there are 2 tnsnames you have to be aware of - i had the 64bit client working fine with sqlplus, but didnt have it set up right for the 32bit client. The install procedure needs to be cleaned up in the manual....

ice - great document find though. Thankyou for the pointer ! sometimes having the "right" words to search on metalink helps !

We are getting a simillar error. Just installed 9.1 Deployment Server- the 64-bit install from edelivery.oracle.com. Getting the error
Failed to load driver library jdboci111.DLL
The file already exit under D:\JDEdwards\E910\system\bin32 and the location D:\JDEdwards\E910\system\bin32 is included in the PATH environment variable.
We are a Windows, SQL shop but saw in the 9.1 instructions that the E1Local has to be an Oracle database.

Could you please suggest how to resolve this.
thanks
Rahul

Jon,

Which manual did you use? - can you please share the location / URL? The newest one I found was still named 9.0...

Thanks, found it after a few more loops around this site ;-)

I'm afraid no: "Also beginning with Release 9.1, only the Oracle Enterprise Edition (OEE) database is supported as the local database on the Deployment Server."...

It's strange that this is a Release and not a Tool Release requirement (MTR for TR9.1 says that SQLSERVER is supported).

The reason it is not a requirement at TR level and only at new install / upgrade is that for existing customers the move away from SQL Server Express to Oracle local DB could be a step too far and add complexity to a tools release upgrade.
We have just done a TR upgrade where we had Oracle Local DB as the selected local database and also got the jdboci11.dll issue.
If you try and install the 32 bit Oracle local database to your fat client you will get an error message saying you cannot do so.
I found a document that said that if installing to a 64 bit machine to download TLOEE89844_1 and TLOEE89844_2 from the update center.
I extracted and replaced the contents of the C:\JDEdwards\E900\OneWorld Client Install\ThirdParty\Oracle directory.
The Oracle client now installs and I have installed a full package.
I then got a problem in that when I started the JDE client I could either get the client to connect to E1Local or the Main Oracle database (you need a 32 bit version of the Oracle client software) but not both (manipulating the ORACLE_HOME env variable or the path variable).
The only solution I manage to get working was to unistall the 64 bit OEE and put back in place the 8.98.4.2 OneWorld Client Install directory and then install the 32 bit Oracle OEE (as this did not do a version check and stop).
Now I have the 9.1 TR / and Oracle 32 bit OEE / Oracle 32 bit client software on my fat client and all works OK.
Oracle support recommends reviewing docs (1393522.1/1383455.1/867892.1/957865.1/883702.1) - which I will do some day....

The guide actually says install 32bit OEE Client BEFORE installing the database - which I did - and everything worked fine.

However, it DOES install a 64bit client as a part of the OEE install to the deployment server - which is confusing (now you have 2 TNSNames entries to manage) - PLUS, even though the install guide stated it would ask you where to install OEE, it actually doesn't - and places it in C:\Oracle\E1Local !!!! I had to uninstall it and modify the configuration files in the OEE installation directory to point to my servers D: drive !

But after going through the steps in order, E1 9.1 Apps is now installed on my deployment server. Now to install the platform pack on my linux box !!!!!!

Edit the installmanager.htm and add option -i with OEE Installation. This will provoke for the Path where to install Local Database.

link="ThirdParty\Oracle\OEESetup.exe -i"

It works!
