I have been asked if there is a way to do this, and other than table =
hacks, I don't know of a way through the application:

The business wants to convert AR/AP of three companies into one company. =
Is there a way through the application which could move it to another =
company?=20

I guess this could be applicable if the company dissolved old =
subsidiaries and wanted to just absorb their books into their accounting =
system. Any ideas would be really appreciated. Otherwise I am going to =
look at possibly doing table edits and just change the appropriate =
account numbers/companies/business units, etc. to the new value.

John,

There is more at issue that simply changing the AP/AR documents. The GL is also impacted by this change.

Here are some things to consider;
When folding the companies together, are P&L business units being consolidated?
Are Balance Sheet accounts being consolidated?
Could this be solved by creating a consolidated report instead of changing the table records (Very messy by the way)?
Could the change be made for all documents entered after a specific date and allow the existing 'trade' balances be clears when payment occurs?

Any changes should be done in prototype (CRP) before production and approved my the financial managers before changing production. JDE does provide some chart of account mapping alternatives under the advanced section. These could be used to move (consolidate) the GL balances. You can call me and I'd discuss with you more of the details if you like.

I was looking at document# WFN-99-0102 from the knowledge garden..would
this accomplish the task? What about the AR and AP ledger, is that something
that I would have to worry about? (the document only mentions F0911, F0901
and F0902...

John,

I would consider:

Set up a new company in GL, AP, AR.
Do journal entries as needed.
Start transactions in the new companies.
Leave history where it is.
When the old items are paid, you are over to the new company.

Avoids doing risk-prone stuff with tables.
People will say "But you have to work with 3 companies for awhile". Yes, but
that beats the major headaches of converting a whole bunch of data. Such
stuff never goes as planned. Especially in buggy software.

John,

The aforementioned document only changes the GL accounts and transfers the GL balances. It does not address the AP or AR ledger files balances (F0411 & F03B11).

If you change the only the GL, your integrity reports will be out of balance in the same fashion if you changed only the ledger files.

If you must change the balance information, you must redirect the AAI's, transfer the GL balances and ledger balances when no one is on the system. You must change the AID fields in the ledgers to point to the correct AAI account (GL account) short ID. You should also change all company fields to reflect the changes.
