X-Ref

This might seem like a simple question, but it has stymied me! I am running Xe demo jr. on a Toshiba Notebook. I have tried repeatedly to build the X-Ref files by running R980011 with a blank in the processing option. Is it possible to build the cross reference file in this environment? If so, what am I missing? I am running Windows 2000 and have about 800 Meg of space on my D: drive, where the B7 directory is located.

Hi David,

I am sorry to say, I am almost totally sure that you can not build Cross Ref for a Standalone Demo on a notebook.
Maybe it is not possible theoretically too (I am not sure in it) but almost sure that it is not possible practically.

Building X-Ref takes very-very long time and requires huge HDD space too on systems with huge power of CPU and HDD. Maybe you can try again to run it seriously filtered R980011.

If you seek the archives for this topic on the Forum then you can read lot of posts about tips and techniques (and trapps) how to build X-Ref on a living system powered with CPU and HDD space.

Thanks for your quick response. I have tried running this utility in chunks - the F980011 has about 2400 records in it now. I know it takes a long time and am willing to wait. What OCM settings should I check to make sure I am not spinning my wheels?
