UDC modification of Hard Coded entries

I have found that it is possible to modify a UDC table
code entry that has the hardcoded flag set to "Y".
Does anyone know if there is an ESU to correct this or
is that just the way XE works. In World it is not
possible to change the code if the hardcoded falg is
set to "Y"

Bill,

this is just the way OneWorld works - however it would be easy to modify P0004A to prevent this should you want to.

Bill,

Great issue.
It seems to me that Hard Coded flag is just an ornament in OneWorld, in a better case just an informational field.

Further, in the near future one of our great financial consultant have found that OW (XE) stores control information in the Description 1 field (not in Description 2) in a UDC table (type) and they aren't marked as Hard Coded. Unfortunately, currently I can not ask for it in wich UDC and for wich functionality. If you are interested in it then please, remind me to ask for it and post it onto the List/Forum. (Thx).

My recommandation is do not wait for an ESU if you want to prevent hard coded UDCs from deletetions and modifications. Make a little development on the UDC maintenance application and deploy it instead of waiting for an ESU. (God helps him who helps himself.)

Zoltán
P.S.: Bill, designate B7333 as XE. JDE do not like to use B7333 designation anymore ... and who knows, maybe the Big Brother is listening :)))

Thanks for the advice. I believe I will be changing the application to not allow changing of "Hardcoded" entries.

Bill,
Wise decision.
Let me to add 2 more cents:

1.) Generally DO NOT allow to set Hard Coded flag to yes for new UDCs.
2.) Allow the maintenance (add, change, delete) of Hard Coded entries only to one special user with a UDCADMIN User ID. You can easily check the current User ID in ER as the SL User ID system literal.

Zoltán
