Re: Data Purge

Hi,

We did GL and AP a while ago. The main things I remember were to make sure
your AAI's are correct before you start and allow plenty of time. I have a
vague memory that when you do the purge, the transactions being purged are
copied into a new table of purged transactions prior to them being deleted
from the original table. Hence you need enough disk space to allow for this
temporary double up. You probably want to check this as it's only a vague
memory. Other than that we just followed the manual and it all worked fine.

Regards,
Suzanne.

Re: Data Purge

work space management on your DISK STORAGE system - so you don't have to pay
$$$$ for more disk space - the purge DELETES records from your files - then
you backup the DELETED RECORDS if you put them into PURGED FILES - then you
DELETE the PURGED files - then you REORGANIZE your files on the DISK....

RE: Data Purge

We purged many of our data files this past weekend in preparation for the
Euro currency conversion. We followed the data file purge recommendations
that are published in the E9 Euro workbook, for the most part. I recommend
you get the book. The E9 Euro PTF published these recommendations so that
files will be smaller at the time one performs currency conversions.

If you have A73 Cume 12, all the file purges have been consolidated on these
menus: G0023, G00231, G00232, G00233, G00234, G002341, G002342, G00235,
G00236, G00237. Knowledge Garden Breaking News Document 'Missing Purge
Menus' provides a cross reference explaining where these purge programs can
be found on menus at earlier PTFs. But you might as well order the Cume 12
PTF.

We performed some data file purges with SQL running in batch. Interested?

RE: Data Purge

Be afraid, be very afraid of your data integrity across applications (A/P to
G/L, etc.) Be sure to run your integrity reports BEFORE & AFTER the purge.
Be sure you have a FULL backup before the purge. Be prepared to wait many
hours for the logicals to rebuild their paths after the reorg of files.
GOOD LUCK!

RE: Data Purge

The E9 Euro workbooks answer your question. They list 240+ steps,
specifying the order to follow in purging your data files. I highly
recommend that you order the E9 Euro PTF. All your questions on data file
purging will be answered in there. This is applicable to all JDE clients,
even those who are not involved in the Euro.

As I mentioned in an earlier post, The A73 Cume 12 ptf has all purges
consolidated onto specific menus. Order cume 12 also, and extract out the
menus mentioned.
