Another option is to enter a sales forecast as type SB and
compare that to actual sales. I've done this and used MS Access
to write some convoluted sales analysis reports. The good thing
about Access is the Union query which means that you can get a
complete customer/item list (ie some will have sales no forecast
and vice versa, without this you will get incomplete data.

R:Budget for Sales

May be I'm missing the meaning of the question but why not to use the
"Sales Forecast Entry" (J3460 - F3460) ?

Also consider that using this function you can enter more than one
"Forecast Type"; the default one is usually "BF" (Best Fit) and is
usually the one processed by the MRP/MPS planning calculations (if you use
them), but you can also enter additional ones (we created the "Forecast
Type" BU which stands for Budget) since it is just a UDC.

As you can see from the program screen and/or the file layout you could
enter informations by Product/Month/Customer and, later, refer to them to
run your comparisons.

Hope this helps

Joe,

This one is in Italy,
Maybe this is the install you should do with me !!

Re: Budget for Sales

The program is P3460, you will find it on a number of menus.
G3412 is one. Just as for budgets in the GL you can have as many
as you like (up to 1396). The entry screen captures quantity
and value. By writing a report over the F3460 file you can
prove it back to the GL budget, or more likely to set the GL
budget. In the sales analysis you then start off with extracts
from the f3460 and f4211 and compare these based on
customer/item joins.

Hi List:

We use the forecast file to enter sales quantities business unit. We then run an
inhouse created program that turns them into "EDI" orders in the F47* files.
After that we process them through the system like real sales orders to get proper
accounting and pricing (we use advanced pricing). The GL generated from the sales
orders is merged with the budgets each department has entered directly into the
"BU" ledger to get a full budget for the following year. FASTR reports are then
run over the combined Budget GL. All this is done in an alternate environment
from production.
