Dear List,

We are on OneWorld Xe on Windows 2000 platform and SQL Server 7.0. We are scheduled to go-live in February and are now exploring different ways of doing backup. Any input will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for your help,
Tet

Tet :

If you have a single location installation (one Enterprise, one Deployment)
the best cost/benefit
way is to backup from SQL to tape using backup commands and jobs provided by
Microsoft.
Create a SQL job with BACKUP DATABASE ... TO TAPE=... WITH ... (don't forget
Master and MSDB
databases!)

But you can backup to Disk and let your backup software handle archiving those backup files for you instead ...

if you have enough room absolutely do a sql disk backup and then save the back up to tape. this is very quick for the sql back up and can limit the amount of time your services are down.
