Left Margin

List,
All the reports here (Xe) are printing in a satisfactory manor. I now have a requirement to print one report (R5542565 Invoice print) with new information further left than other reports, i.e. reduce the left margin for one report. Until now the left margin has remained untouched at the default value.
When I change the JDE.INI settings to include UBELEFTMARGIN=0 this solves the problem, but it means all reports print like this, which isn't acceptable, as they are printed on pre-printed stationery.
Is there any other way to reduce the left margin?

Thanks,

Stewart,
Have you tried doing it in the version print properties?

Re: RE: Left Margin

Hi Bill,
Thanks for the suggestion, unfortunately when I go in to the Print Setup in RDA, I can increase the page size, but not change the left margin, unless I'm doing something wrong:)
I'm working on Xe here, so I realise that the functionality could be different from B7332.

Thanks again, and keep the suggestions coming!

Re: RE: Left Margin

Stewart,

It is my understanding that you tried to increase the page size, in RDA, at the UBE-template level, but with no success;
Bill is trying to say that changing the page size at the UBE-templpate level does not suffice (a bug). You have to apply the same change at the UBE-version level, too :) And that behaviour is identical, for both Xe & B7332.

My educated guess is that, when DEcreasing page width in RDA, the margins INcrease, and vice-versa, am I right?

Warm regards,
Adrian

Re: RE: Left Margin

Hi Adrian,
Thanks, I met that bug before :(
I've tried changing the paper size at version level.
As you say, increasing the page size decreases the right margin up to the printer's limits, unfortunately I need a smaller left margin.
I have also tried playing with the Fit To Page option in Acrobat, but I can't get the left margin to reduce.

Thanks again,

I'm confused. Why are we making this so complicated? Why don't you just change the space before the first column to zero (0)?

Hi Ray,
Sorry, I left out information: it is a group section in the report, and I've placed the variables as far to the left as I can.
Thanks anyway for the suggestion,

Stewart,

Based on your earlier comments, I assume you have a non-zero UBELEFTMARGIN override parameter in your JDE.INI file. We do not and our group sections with objects placed all the way to the left print on the left edge of the page. If my assumption is correct, is it mandatory that you have a UBELEFTMARGIN override for other reports? If so, you may be in a Catch-22 situation.

Xe/NT/SQL7

P.S. We have been through 733, 7331 and 7332. The behavior has always been the same.

Hi Ray,
Thanks for the response.
Until yesterday I didn't have UBELEFTMARGIN in the JDE.INI at all. It had never been set up on this site, but whenever I added it as =0 to my JDE.INI, the report moved to the left, so I guess that JDE has it defaulting to something other than 0 (in the same way that TOPMARGIN=0 moves the report up the page)
I'm now tearing out what little hair I have left trying to solve this one!
Thankfully, up to now (B732, B7331, Xe), I've never had a customer request like this one!
Maybe if I close my eyes, it will go away... :)
