FTP from JDE/OS400

Someday I'll be good enough ~ that I'll get to answer a few questions,
rather than always ask... Till then... I ask away...

One of our developer guys desiress to be able to FTP, internal to an OW-XE
Control/Button, a file from our AS/400 to another system (VAX, Alpha or
Intel). Basically he wants to push a button and have all the data that has
been placed in a flat file FTP'd to another location... at the push of the
button... no, scheduled automation cannot work for this situation.

One means we are looking at is to use the bsfn B34A1030(?) - Execute
External Program - to launch a CLP that will FTP out.

So, who out there is using OW-EX to FTP to/from their 400 (or other system?)
and could provide any feedback?

I'd love to hear any feedback!

What is the suggested 'best practices' way to call a CLP on the 400?

I believe our developer guy has decided he wants to link a form button to a
CLP ~ and have the FTP process kicked off internal to the CLP.

Ideas? Security Concerns?

Search for RPG Call on JDLIST here.

Some ideas were bounced around in that thread about doing this.

I use a BSFN and a couple of tables, one with a trigger on it, to do this all of the time.

IF THE FILE YOU ARE FTPING IS ALWAYS THE SAME USE A BATCH FILE TO EXECUTE
YOUR FTP.
