I'm interested in anyone that might be able to provide me with any tips,
before I go at this, regarding the setup and configuration of Formscape to
be used in conjunction with OneWorld Xe. If you would be easier to speak
off-line, please send an e-mail to [email protected].

Hi Rick,
I am the Adrian Catherine was referring to you :) Glad to hear there's going to be another FormScape site, out there :)
We are using FormScape 2.1 with our live B7321; it's pleasure to work with, no problems at all, really.
It is impressively reliable!
Basic tips: In order to have FormScape working with Xe, I see three requirements:
1 - You need FormScape 2.4 &
2 - I wouldn't miss the FormScape Developer Training week, and
3 - Of course, Xe should already be in place (he he he).
Our Xe (SandBox) is in the process of business applications testing, and, in the near future (read months), with all Mods in place, I'll take care of upgrading the FormScape applications, and we'll go live with both.
Other tips: Available upon request.
Warm regards,
Adrian

Hello All,

My 2 cents worth ....

I have implemented some OneWorld Sites with FormScape here in South Africa.

I think For OneWorld Xe you defintly need FormScape 2.4 with the OneWorld
PDF Module.
My clients are happy with FS performance and stability.
And as far as OneWorld is concerned, The RDA ( Report Design Aid ) is
functional but cannot do the things FS can do. Or maybe it can do some
things, but not very straight forward.
And with alot of difficulty.

So, FormScape complements OneWorld perfectly.
I was, and still am, very impressed with what can be achieved with FS.

Need any other help or info please email me. I'd be happy to share any other
info.

Hi Adrian,

It's look to me that you are very familiar with FormScape.
We start using FormScape 2.3 few weeks ago, we are going live
with a FormScape application in 2 weeks. But we have a printing
problem and maybe you can help me.
We need to have as default printer a logical printer contening the Formscape
conversion program and with this setup we cannot print any others JDE UBE
directly(by pressing Print in the submitted jobs window), but the FormScape
application is working properly. Even if we hardcoded the printer
name(FormScape program name) in the UBE and in the Version, our default
printer is always use first. And if is not pointing on the right conversion
program, FormScape does not work.

Have you ever experimented this problem ?

hope you can help!

thanks

Hi Marc,

I wouldn't say I am VERY familiar with FormScape; I'm just familiar :)
Not knowing your System Configuration, I am assuming you are trying to use FormScape Server installed on your NT Enterprise Server
As far as I remember, we are printing our documents in a little different way from yours:
a) OW UBE sends an ASCII file to the (local, from FormScape's Server standpoint) directory monitored by FormScape Server (it is anOTHER NT machine, not the Enterprise Server, nor the Deployment Server)
b) Any file placed in this directory is collected through a File Queue, and processed by FormScape, then
b) FormScape generates the final document, and
c) Sends the final document to the output-physical printer.
Our schema is independent from the other UBEs OW is running; therefore we didn't experience your kind of problem!

My educated guess is that your problem is either generated by your Configuration (too many servers on the same machine?) or by the Input Queue selected :(

Hoping it helps,
Adrian

Re: RE: Formscape With OneWorld

Mr. Nelson M.

Your public reply isn't that useful; as a matter of facts it is not useful at all.
It doesn't answer the specific questions raised by Eric and it ignores his request to be contacted off-line, too.
Mr. Nelson, you are violating the below basic rules of this List! Stop, otherwise you'll be excluded from it.

"The Forums shall be used only in a noncommercial manner. You shall not, without our express approval, distribute or otherwise publish any material containing any solicitation of funds, promotion, advertising, or solicitation for goods or services. Hi Marc,
SLIK Software have a product which can print UBE's to designated printers. Read about it at http://www.slik.co.nz/oneworldintegration.htm
OneWorld integration is only one of the functions of SLIK.

does that ube you want to print to the formscape process sent up with a
default printer pointing to the formscape printer?

I.e. We have a printer setup up in Xe called apchecks. It was set up with
the ip address of the formscape server, and the remote printer queue the
name of the process on the formscape server. The apcheck program's default
printer is apchecks.

If I confused you more I'm sorry didn't mean to. But I hope this helps
some.

I have Xe on an as/400 S20, and the formscape server is 2000 server. I have
set it up and it has been working with apchecks for over a month, we start
po's CRP this week, and we are currently testing lot orders. We will be
using about 12+ projects through formscape. So if I can help let me know.

Salut Marc,
It looks to me that your issue was solved!
Is it possible for you to share the recent FormScape experiences with the List?
