FORMER ORACLE COO RAY LANE TO KEYNOTE J.D. EDWARDS USER GROUP CONFERENCE

FOCUS 2001 Spotlights the Importance of Open Systems in Collaborative Commerce

DENVER, March 14, 2001 – J.D. Edwards & Company (NASDAQ: JDEC), a leading provider of agile, collaborative solutions for the Internet economy, today announced that former Oracle COO Ray Lane will be the keynote speaker at FOCUS 2001, the annual user conference sponsored by Quest, J.D. Edwards’ User Group. Ken Blanchard, coauthor of The One Minute Manager®, will also be a guest speaker. FOCUS will take place June 11-14 at the Colorado Convention Center and Pepsi Center, both in Denver. The annual user conference will offer a forum for customers, prospects and partners from around the world to exchange information and best practices, as well as discuss key industry issues.
Lane will address the conference on Tuesday, June 12. He is expected to discuss the role that integration and interoperability plays in the development of today’s collaborative commerce systems. Following his departure from Oracle, Lane joined the venture firm Kleiner, Perkins, Caufield & Byers as general partner. One of his functions is that of board director for Asera, a company that offers technology that makes e-business software work together more effectively.
Collaborative commerce, or c-commerce (also known as ERP II) is becoming a fast-growing business strategy for companies. Because c-commerce requires the linkage of disparate I.T. systems, there is a strong future in this area for companies like J.D. Edwards who offer customers unique c-commerce systems that are platform-agnostic and interoperable with others.
“We are thrilled to have Mr. Lane at FOCUS this year,” says Edward McVaney, CEO of J.D. Edwards. “It is a great opportunity for our customers to hear from one of the industry’s most influential leaders. We look forward to hearing his perspective on where the industry is headed, and on how businesses can best collaborate in tightly integrated and efficient ways.”
Close to 10,000 attendees are expected to come to Denver from around the world for educational and professional development, networking and introductions to new technologies, services and business issues. Details about FOCUS 2001 are posted on the Internet at www.questnet.org as they come available. FOCUS registration is now open to J.D. Edwards users, prospects and the media.
