F4111/CARDEX purge

Does anyone have a good method they use for purging records from the
CARDEX/F4111 Item Ledger file? I noticed that the regular purges don't touch
the CARDEX.

Thanks...

We wrote our own purge program. You need to make sure all records have been processed by as of processing-P41542 and if you are running the Inventory Integrities-P41544 and P41543 make sure you have all SAR's applied. The first time we purged the F4111 we had problems with our integrities. We now keep current and previous years records on the AS/400 and purge remaining records to tape.

The basic concept is to use the P00PURGE program. There is a specific
version in the versions list pointing to the F4111 file (a version different
than on option 14, menu G41311). Recommendation is you make sure the F4111
records have been updated to the history file prior to purging. There is a
field in the F4111 that will be flagged once that update has been done. We
copied and modified the P00PURGE to direct the purged data to a special
purge library (JDE defaults to a library name based on system date) that
holds all files, which we can then save to tape.
