R3482 MRP is slow sporadically

Nothing in the data/version has changed. Doesn't matter if it's Gross Regen or Net Change. For example this week Net Change ran on Tuesday and took 5.5 hours, then ran on Wednesday and took 2.25 hours (which is normal). We see this a couple of times a week. Went through the MRP Performance Checklist. Hardware has been checked. Any suggestions?

Are there other jobs that are chewing up CPU when MRP takes longer to run?

It might be staying in waiting status due to jobqueue being full for some time....thanks

No that's not it unfortunately as I can see the records in the database and their time stamp. It's working, but very slowly.

What platform are you running on?

We are on the IBM System i.
This is a long shot but we've had jobs fluctuate like this because of a trigger. The trigger wrote out records to an audit table which in turn were processed by MIMIX.
There was a lot "waiting" which slowed down our whole process.

Including system backup jobs or database maintenance jobs running?
